October 31, 2005"Excellent and Worthy Consort"We visited Oakwood Cemetery today to take pictures, stroll around, and visit Uncle Sam. We found the largest obelisk of the cemetery belonging to Major General Wool who fought in many battles, including Plattsburgh in 1812. The Major General has the best view of the cemetery looking out over Troy into Cohoes and even the Cohoes Falls. His wife Sarah was noted as an excellent and worthy consort, it was an interesting way to refer to one's beloved. Another interesting way was of Griswold K. Green's two wives. A true romantic judging by the epitaphs First Wife: Second Wife: At the end of our trip, we ventured back to the beginning - at the Earl Memorial Chapel where my love proposed to me.
October 11, 2005Another year wiserThis past weekend my family came up to celebrate my birthday. My parents took me out for dinner on Saturday and we had cocktails later that evening. I love me my birthday long island ice teas... they get me drunk. My mom finished up her radiation therapy and goes back to see the surgeon this week too. She seemed in better spirits than the last time I saw her, I think getting away for some different scenery helped.
