Peaks and Hudson valleys

It's the end of the second week of the fall 2005 semester; I have finalized all adds and drops, purchased all required texts totaling $180 for two classes, and still am broker than broke. My two credit card companies have decided to fuck with me and lower my available balance without any written acknowledgements, notices, mailings. I was going to purchase my Financial Accounting text today when I accidentally handed her my credit card, understand mind you that I had at that point only been out of bed for 10 minutes. It was a blessing that I did, because the clerk informed me it had been declined. Thinking to myself, "I have a G left on that thing wtf," and hand her the correct card, my savings one.

So, should an emergency arise, like the country begins to fail and the Million Monkey Army takes over urban control, I'm not going to escape. Perhaps credit cards are reigning in on their users due to Katrina, perhaps I'm a bad client. I am, I freely admit it, I used up all my credit when K and I first got an apartment and have been paying it off ever since. Credit cards are evil, especially in the hands of college students. I'm atoning for my past.

Looking forward this week to driving down to Hudson for my job, to take some pictures of an event, and even try my hand at writing. Since my department has only a writer, a designer, and a .5 webmaster, I have to help pick up some slack and take on more tasks. I don't mind writing, I enjoy it in fact, I knew it would be an inevitable task to pick up. My workload is of three to four people, it seems the organization's policy is: if you're incompetent, you get less work, if you're competent, you get the work taken away from those incompetents until you yourself start fucking up and become incompetent. I'm beyond my saturation point, tottering between insanity and utter apathy. I enjoy the apathy better, I feel less guilt.

Did you call the card people and rip them a new one?

Sorry to hear you're so stressed. But you're doing great things and kicking ass and working towards your degree! (which is a fuck lot more than what I'm doing ;) )
