April 27, 2004Spring '04 FinaleClasses are rapidly coming to a finale this semester and it feels like one of those seens in a movie where you're standing in a fun house surrounded by mirrors and you keep turning around to see all of your reflections but you get vertigo. The camera spins all around you creating a dizzying effect and you scream and drop to the floor unconscious. fade to black. I still am in the dark about whether or not my javascript class ends the 11th or the 18th - Presentations begin on the 4th which means this weekend, I get to lock myself up in my room and program the weekend away. I missed out on Tap NY, I'll miss out on NERAX, and I'm going to miss out on Ommegang at Mahar's because of this effing class. I won't miss Stone's, but if I had my choice (John would kill me) I would choose Ommegang. If I learned anything from this semester it is, a history class and programming class equate to lots of work. Doing work every night is key to not getting behind. Cooking a good meal on Mondays and Wednesdays takes too much time out of my evening for being productive. Especially if a trip to the market is directly before. I long for the day when I can sit around the apartment, not do anything, play the Sims, and relax.
April 18, 2004Fine day Saturday
April 13, 2004Bolting the beastFinally, after several frustrating months, Frankenstein lives, again, at his full potential. Previous on Recounting Frankenstein's Surgery, it was mentioned that the Athlon xp 2400+ chip was only being detected by the mobo as a 1800+. Manipulating the cpu frequency in the bios was to no avail and Dr. X thought she was going to have to live out Frankenstein's Life as an under achiever. Yesterday, the discovery was made that although Shuttle's AK39/N mobo is theoretically supposed to detect the frequency, there's a jumper that puts a cap on frequency. Thus, Frankenstein's brain was working as hard as the hamster could run in his cute little wheel. The Post issue with the RAM hanging up was discovered by Dr. X's plaything, K. Fearing that the circuits in the laboratory were severely drained and the juice to bring Frankenstein to life was insufficient, K brought Franky into the adjoining laboratory and tested the power. Frankenstein lives. It was an incompatibility between two different readers, the one attached to the printer and the 6-in-1 external one. Currently, Frankenstein is happily processing data at the designated rate and should be all set for the Sims Making Magic come summer. I have decided that I can now finally, with an easy mind, bolt the beast shut.
April 04, 2004Heaven is...Belgian chocolate. Kris and I visited the Ommegang brewery yesterday, drank some of their fine brews and picked up cave-aged in Howe Caverns Hennepin. We opened one of the bottles this evening and I must say that it is by far better than normal Hennepin, the citrus flavour is really brought to life. There are some pictures from the visit to Howe Caverns in the gallery. One of my favorite pictures is this:
April 02, 2004Attention grabberI find that one of the most frustating things of my position is being surrounded by characters of the annoying stature. The woman on the other side of my cubicle has this overwhelming desire for attention; subsequently my heart palpitates as I pass by her desk in fear of being tagged to look at some pictures, or wares of her recent purchase, or her homemade photo albums. Monday morning, I walk into work with the keys of my new car in hand happily knowing that nothing could ruin the day. About an hour into work I was being shown the powerpoint presentation her daughter (age 12) put together on Finland for school. Complete with all the annoying bells and whistles Microsoft hopes its consumers use, I was in hell at this gaudy auditory & visual presentation. Finally, Finland's currency, where the girl four pictures of the front and back of two bills. One of the bills had Santa Claus on it, the other, the Statue of Liberty. The SoL tipped me off as that the bills were erroneous, let alone the fact that Finland is apart of the European Union therefore using the Euro as their currency. The moral of the story is, that although sometimes I love help people by correcting their mistakes before they're public, I remained quiet. I just get so irritated sometimes dealing with this person. I didn't go flaunty pictures of my new car to everyone, nor did I show off my new digital camera. Oh yeah, btw, I have a new digital camera.
