June 12, 2003Winding up the weekIt’s been one week since I got back and thus far I haven’t really posted any real meat and potatoes about anything. And there’s been a dung heap of goings on. I’ll start off with my jobbie job. Before I left for Ireland I heard the rumor mill churning faster than a hamster wheel about layoffs that were going to occur. I figured that there was only going to be a few changes, apparently I was wrong. Basically the two days after I left the shizze went down. A number of people were laid off, a number were placed in other areas. I was fretting returning to work because having been gone for two weeks, I figured it was ample time for them to say, hey we don’t need her, sayonara sucker. I walked in and was informed of all the happenings and was extremely sorry to hear about counterpart being laid off, bumped in the injustice that is civil service. I was relieved to find out that I’m safe where I am. It’s mid June which means it’s time for the humidity to jump to a level that makes me want to peel off my skin and stick it in the freezer for a period of time. The weather in Ireland was more to my liking, cooler and less humid. However, when we were in Sligo, the humidity was as bad as it is here, but it at least only reached a high of 75 degrees. I’m wondering how tolerable Mahar’s is going to be during the summer when going there last night for Mer’s birthday, it was almost intolerable. Especially when it’s all full capacity. I do not enjoy the heat, and anyone that knows me knows that I am a downright royal bitch in the heat. Tonight was our bowling night, a second night of being around the league for me. I just think I do poorly when surrounded by scary strangers. Luckily though, I brought Yoda, who gave Mer much luck with her high game of 214. I’ve become inseparable with the little green dude; he goes wherever I go now and occasionally gets caught by the camera doing various things. If it’s one thing I learned when in Ireland, it’s that Yoda is the shiznit. He gets much respect and has many admirers. This weekend should be a low key one, hopefully giving me time and motivation to cleaning up the room and organizing pictures from the trip. Also that several pints of beer goodness will be drunk and perhaps grilling will ensue since it’s cooler than cooking in the oven. Thank Buddha for Propane! 10:33 PM
