June 30, 2003Tin Foil HatsI am convinced that the apocalypse is coming, it'll be brought about by mind controling aliens and their biker monkey minions. That's why I'm wearing my hat every waking second. The weekend is over, it was quite the busy one. Friday and Saturday nights were spent at Mahar's. It's really fascinating and surreal to watch your significant other have drinks with a woman that is not you. Not that there's anything wrong between us, he was with a friend and the occupancy of the establishment prohibited us from really being near each other. The two of them sat down the bar on stools for the first half and then switched over to a table near us. Saturday I spent driving around from Albany to Wynantskill, back to Albany to only get bored and suggest a drive to Troy, which we found ourselves back in Wynantskill and back to Albany. Luckily a nice trip to Mahar's helped beat the heat of the day and we were able to chill with Julie and Shawn. Oh that wacky Harry Potter and all his adventures with his gang along with getting himself tricked by Voldemort. What a mofo pants! Luckily we were able to discuss book five on Sunday afternoon with a fantastic dinner spread out over several hours. John made these vegetarian sausage rolls which were bloody fantastic seeing as such as I dislike sausage immensely. I made the salad and the vegetarian chili which used zucchini in place of the meat. I must say that it was the best chili that I ever made- that recipe is a keeper. Mondays are typically a downer for me but today has to take the cake, the punch, and the party favors. Upon my immediate arrival today I was informed that my old co-worker, who retired two years ago, her mother passed away last week. I feel for the family because it's just been a downward spiral for them. A year and a half ago her daughter-in-law died of ovarian cancer; currently she's battling pancreatic cancer to which is not responding to the chemo; and now her mother passes. I wish that the family could catch a break in their recent time of troubles and have something positive and good over balance the blackhole of negativity. It's going to be a long, long, long four days. Luckily I can redeem the week with bowling and a trip to mahar's on thursday only after having gone to getting my teeth cleaned and receiving a gripe session from my dentist. Oh joy! 08:29 AM
